Lok Sabha elections 2024: Amit Shah of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of Varanasi are among the prominent figures on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) much-anticipated first list of 195 candidates for the 2018 Lok Sabha elections. Four prominent Bhojpuri candidates, including Pawan Singh of Asansol, West Bengal, have been fielded by the BJP.

Manoj Tiwari from Northeast Delhi, Ravi Kishan from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, and Dinesh Lal Yadav, well known as Nirahua from Azamgarh, are the other three Bhojpuri actors. They are all currently serving as Members of Parliament.
51 seats from Uttar Pradesh, 24 from Madhya Pradesh, 20 from West Bengal, 15 from Gujarat and Rajasthan, 12 from Kerala, 9 from Telangana, 11 from Assam, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, 5 from Delhi, 3 from Uttarakhand, 2 from Arunachal Pradesh, and 1 from each of Goa, Tripura, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Daman and Diu were comprised in the BJP’s list. Moreover, it brought in fresh faces to replace up to 33 incumbent MPs.
1. Pawan Singh: The well-known playback singer and Bhojpuri actor, best known for the hit song Lollipop Lagelu, would run from Asansol in West Bengal. At the moment, Asansol is led by TMC famous and senior Bollywood and Bhojpuri actor Shatrughan Sinha.
2. Dinesh Lal Yadav: Well-known actor and Bhojpuri performer Dinesh Lal Yadav, often known as Nirahua, is an MP from Azamgarh who is now serving and will run again from the SP’s stronghold in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. He had defeated Dharmendra Yadav of the SP by about 9,000 votes in the 2022 by-elections.
3. Ravi Kishan: Famous actor and popular Bhojpuri performer Ravindra Shyamnarayan Shukla urf Ravi Kishan will run for office again from Yogi Adityanath’s stronghold of Gorakhpur. The current chief minister of Uttar Pradesh held the seat till 2017, when Ravi Kishan emerged victorious in 2019.
4. Manoj Tiwari: Popular Bhojpuri singer-actor and two-term sitting MP from North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari will run for the BJP in the same constituency for a third consecutive term. The Congress candidate Sheila Dikshit, a former chief minister of Delhi, was soundly defeated by the BJP leader in the 2019 election. A well-known Purvanchali face of the BJP in the nation’s capital, Manoj Tiwari served as the head of the party’s Delhi branch in the past.
