The ticking clock signals the commencement of bidding, and the countdown has begun! At this time of the year, fans eagerly await as all ten IPL franchises gather to assemble their potential best squads for the upcoming season. That’s right! It’s IPL Auction day, where over 300 players have put themselves under the hammer. Initially, more than 1100 players submitted their names for auction, among which 333 have been shortlisted for the final bidding showdown. Will all of them find a buyer? Probably not, but most of them are hopeful to be discovered in today’s ‘mini’ event.

Dubai hosts today’s extravaganza, perhaps the most anticipated event in the IPL auction calendar. Star-studded with charismatic players like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Rachin Ravindra, and more, the auction promises an entertaining 8-hour spectacle. And, hello, hello! Delhi Capitals, armed with all their skills and strategies, will have to make some offers to bring back Rishabh Pant to their table.

While the IPL 2024 auction has seen a surge in player presence, some notable absentees include Shakib Al Hasan and the England duo of Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer. However, the grandiosity of this event is such that none of it may overshadow what’s in store. The IPL 2024 edition promises to be even bigger, and the auction’s commitment to this pledge needs brightening from devoted fans.

An event like this, which has already created widespread excitement, offers promises of entertainment delivery, with the likes of Hardik Pandya potentially leading Mumbai Indians for the first time, emulating MS Dhoni’s swansong. Shreyas Iyer and Pant leading two young Indian captains against each other, and their mentor Gautam Gambhir’s return to the Indian Premier League, have already turned heads. We are yet to step into the new year. Although an official date is yet to be announced, it is believed that IPL 2024 will kick off from March 22.
