ICC Test Rankings: Following an impressive victory over England in Ranchi, Team India’s young stars have advanced significantly in the most recent ICC Test rankings. During the series-clinching five-wicket victory, players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Dhruv Jurel struck half-centuries, setting new individual records in the process.
Jaiswal, the series’ top scorer at the moment, moved up three spots to take 12th place. Gill jumped up four ranks to take the 31st spot, while Jurel, the wicketkeeper-batter, is now ranked 69th.
However, after scoring 42 and 60 against India, England opener Zak Crawley can also claim to have reached a new career-best rating as he climbed 10 spots to 17 on the list of Test batters. Meanwhile, teammate Root had another reason to celebrate as he also gained ground on the rankings for Test all-rounders.
Due to his 31st Test century in Ranchi, Joe Root moved up to third place, but New Zealand captain Kane Williamson maintained his top ranking. As a result, the former England captain shot up three spots to fourth on the list of Test all-rounders, although Ravindra Jadeja continues to dominate that category comfortably.
As for the Test bowling rankings, India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah maintains his top spot despite being rested for the fourth Test. His teammate Kuldeep Yadav, however, leaps ten places to equal 32nd place and set a new career high after taking four wickets in the second innings against England.
