Under the Pen Marudhar Entertainment brand, Pen Studios purchased the theatrical rights for both North and West India. Sree Gokulam Movies obtained the movie’s theatrical distribution rights in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, while Rajshri Pictures handled Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Panorama Studios purchased the area rights of Mysore.
The theatrical rights to West Bengal were purchased by SVF. Yash Raj Films purchased the rights to distribute the film overseas.The film’s distribution rights for Singapore were purchased by Home Screen Entertainment, while Lighthouse Distribution obtained the rights for Spain. In Bangladesh, Action Cut Entertainment was the distributor of the movie.
Critical reaction
With an average rating of 5.90/10, five out of the eighteen reviews left by critics on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes are positive.
Even if Dunki isn’t as good as Hirani’s other films, like 3 Idiots or PK, it’s still entertaining and makes you feel good, according to Tushar Joshi of India Today, who gave it a rating of 4 out of 5. Dunki’s story is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, with friendship and romance all rolled into one, according to Times of India’s Sreeparna Sengupta, who also gave it four out of five stars. In keeping with Hirani’s signature approach, the film presents a powerful message while also including satirical and comedic elements to create an enjoyable experience.
