Mumbai Indians Squad Changes: In the IPL 2024, Hardik Pandya will be the captain of the Mumbai Indians, the five-time champion team. On December 15, 2023, ahead of the IPL 2024 auctions, Hardik was named the team’s new captain, replacing Rohit Sharma. He has played in two consecutive finals with the Gujarat Titans in the last two seasons, and he played with MI from 2015 to 2021.

Jasprit Bumrah will return to the MI team for the IPL this year, in addition to Hardik. Due to a back issue, the renowned pacer was sidelined for the whole 2023 season. In 2024, MI’s roster will include more players than just Hardik and Bumrah. In order to add to the team for the forthcoming season, the franchise made some wise selections during the auction the previous year.
Following a two-year absence, Hardik returns to the MI for the IPL 2024, while Bumrah is primed to excel in the league following a back injury that kept him out of the competition last year. Prior to the IPL 2024 auction, MI acquired West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd from the Lucknow Super Giants in exchange for Hardik. In December 19, 2023, the Mumbai Indians signed South African pacer Gerald Coetzee for Rs 5 crore, Sri Lankan Dilshan Madushanka for Rs 4.60 crore, and Nuwan Thushara for Rs 4.80 crore during the player auction held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
During the IPL 2023 auction, MI paid Rs 17.50 crore to recruit pro all-rounder Cameron Green of Australia. Green proved himself during his debut IPL season, however he was moved to RCB before the IPL 2024 auction to make room for Hardik. In addition to him, the club dropped English pacer Jofra Archer, who was acquired for Rs 8 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction, as a result of his ongoing struggles with injuries and fitness concerns.
